These two über talented fashion designer British expats wanted a portrait in front of their charming old farm house in upstate New York. They loved the idea of using American Gothic as a starting point and also asked that I incorporate lots of daffodils and their Marc Jacobs wellies.
Here's the sketch I sent them for their approval before starting the color version. It rough, but it's really just to give them an idea of the composition and the placement of all of the elements.

I also turned this same portrait into their Christmas card with a few small modifications: I added snow, rabid squirrels, coordinating plaid pajamas, Christmas lights, and a shovel. All cards are custom printed through my greeting card company HANDSOME DEVIL PRESS.
